Spring Into Fitness #Giveaway Blog Hop

Thanks to our Host!

I am so thrilled to be joining another Blog Hop hosted by Runaway Bridal Planner, this time she is joined by cohost Cat Lady Runs!
I decided to go with some great cross training items this month. I have started getting into the groove of doing other workouts besides running. I earned part of this prize through Viggle. Viggle gives you points for watching TV shows, via an app on your smart phone. Whenever I watch a show, I try to use Viggle to earn more points. In the past I have earned Barnes and Noble and Starbucks gift cards, but this time I went for a workout DVD to share with my readers!
I figured that since you will be sweaty while you workout, you might want a headband to keep the hair out of your face, and some snazzy shoelaces for your kicks!
Be sure to check the links at the bottom, because there are a bunch of other blogs joining this hop, and they will all be giving away items for fitness lovers!
SO, how do you enter my giveaway? Simple!
Comment below, telling me how you plan to get fit this Spring!

Monday Musings

After a crazy weekend consisting of a long run, night out with great friends, and a 24 marathon I am ready to get back into the swing of things!
Our long run was at the beach! We followed it with a long walk, another six miles! The hub and I walked another two miles after I got home!
Korean Tacos from Mogo are the new fave at our house! We met friends in Asbury Park to eat there, they are addicted now as well!
Today's run was a bit of a train wreck. My new kicks finally arrived, and they felt great on my feet. My shins hurt like crazy the whole run. Not sure if it is the shoes or leftover from my long day on Saturday! Time will tell!
This pic is if my workout area for a challenge but, more importantly, the pics is also of two books I will be reading to try and get a handle on my stress eating. It is totally taking over my life and it is time I did something about it!
I am in the parking lot right now, waiting for Girls on the Run to start! I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Have you ever had a problem with stress eating?

Fitness Friday

It has been a busy week, so I will try to catch up with it all today!
Monday I took a rest day after that crazy half marathon! I was a little achey, but nothing too crazy. I did do my jumping jacks, though!
these are my March Challenges, so far so good!

The chafing I got at the race was the worst part of it, and it plagued me for a few days!
Tuesday, I did FIRM Thin in 30 and marched while I watched TV to get my 10K steps in. It was also a good mail day, because I got my new Sparkle Skirt! I got it to wear with my Digital Running gear at upcoming races!

Wednesday, the weather was finally good for outdoor running! I had side on the schedule, but my new kicks aren't here yet, and my back ups make my shins ache! I did four miles, stretching my shins every mile, and called it quits! The timer is for my plank, I haven't planked every day, but almost!

Thursday was another DVD day, this time, back to back FIRM Thin in 30 DVDs, plus I walked to and from work, and paced while I waited for the bus, fort a total of three miles! Wednesday night I got new Trainers, and tried them out on Thursday. LOVE! They are a fabulous deep purple and they make my heart happy!

Today is another rest day. I considered running, but I have a long run tomorrow and decided against it. I did walk home from work, which is about 1.3 miles with a quick detour that probably brought it a little over 1.5 miles. I also had another great mail day! I got my Digital Running Club medal for the Interstate Challenge. This thing is HEAVY! It is also HUGE! I must also say that I entered my second race into the database either Sunday night or Monday morning, and it came today! Super Speedy!

Speaking of challenges with Digital Running, I have the pic of the first medal in their Spring Dawn Challenge! isn't it adorable? I love the colors and I cannot wait to have to whole set! My March race is already entered, and I have plenty of them in April and May to meet the requirements!

I also got my Sparkly Soul thin gold headband. I won it through a contest on Twitter on Oscar night! I don't have any of the skinny headbands, so I was excited to win this one! I just hope the teenie doesn't steal it. She was oddly excited when I won.....

I was hoping that my new kicks would come today! They were supposed to arrive yesterday, and UPS has handed them over to the USPS for delivery this morning! The mailman has already been here, so I am guessing tomorrow? I can no longer track it, which is so frustrating. Know what I mean?
I do not have a race this weekend, which feels strange, but tomorrow is my long run.
My next race is the Michelob Ultra 13.1 in New York with my good friend Gigi from Running on Candy! I even get to crash at her house! Woot!

Are you racing this weekend? Where?

E Murray Todd Half Marathon, 2nd of #14in2014

Yesterday I got up at almost the crack of dawn to run the E Murray Todd Half Marathon for the second year.
Last year, Eileen and I decided to run this race as a sort of "kick into gear" race. No time in mind, no worry about the outcome, just get out there and run! This year, we wanted to beat last year's train wreck of a time. I know, we said we didn't care, but you always want a race PR, right?
This is a very cold, very hilly race, and very low budget as well. It is run by the Parks' System, and it is very scenic, but they don't close the roads, water stops are every three miles, and there is no bling. Did you read that just now? I ran a race with no bling. Twice. For real.
I got there with about 40 minutes to spare, and was second on line to get my bib. Only, they didn't have my bib. Weird, because I am sure that I registered, but they were super nice and issued me a new one.

It was recyclable. I have never had to return my bib, but it is a cool concept. I did notice after the race, that a lot of people kept them anyway. That made me a little sad, but what can you do?
I got my bib and shirt, and was glad that it was cotton and not tech! I had time for a potty break and a Half Fanatic photo op before the race started.
We made our way to the start, and hung all the way back. It was crappy weather, and it seemed like all of the racers were very serious, and we knew we would be in the way if we started up front!
The race was basically a ready, set, go! start, with no chip timer until the end. Like I said, very basic.
It started and ended at Brookdale Community College, and wound all around three or four of the surrounding towns. We passed horse farms, neighborhoods, highways, pretty much a huge variety of scenery.
We were also basically last, and the ambulance was lumbering along beside me for the first three miles. How depressing.
At about mile three, it pulled over and we never saw it again. Whew! There were a few people behind us, it turns out, we just never saw them.
At mile five, the freezing rain started. That was fun.
It lasted about 5 miles, which was super fun. I stopped at one point to take a couple shots of the scenery/hills in case anyone doubted that NJ actually has them.

This wasn't even the biggest hill! Yikes! It seemed there was a bigger one around every corner.
At around mile 10, we entered a park, and the hills basically ended. It was twisty and turn, and we passed Dave the Trumpeter at around mile 11. He took a pic of us, but I don't know how it came out! He then played us on our way, and we continued on. We mostly did a walk/run for the last 3-4 miles, because we were sadly undertrained. The snow has given us a lovely excuse not to run, I guess. I say that, but I don't really mean it. The snow has really put a huge damper on my running. It has been super unsafe more often than not, and I have missed a lot of training runs!
We swore we would no post our time, so I won't tell you how badly we sucked, but I will say that we did not beat last year's time. Oh, well.
I didn't get many more steps after this, but it is still pretty impressive. I was very achey afterwards, and spent some time on the couch!
At the finish, we handed in our bibs, took our water, and left. Pretty unexciting. They had bananas, but I don't eat them, so I hit a Dunkin on my way out for a bagel and
Isn't it beautiful? I am lactose intolerant, and can only drink this after a long race! You can believe I take advantage whenever I can! I guzzled about half of this all at once, and finished the second half with my bagel. YUM!

This was my second half marathon for the year, towards my #14in2014

Did you race this weekend?

MASH Up Conditioning Winner, Weekend Racing, and March Challenges....Whew!

Wow, I haven't been back since Wednesday! I meant to post this yesterday, but the Teenie is playing the dragon in Shrek the Musical and I was so busy running around, that I just didn't get to it!
she is 1/5 of the dragon, top row, center

I am really really loving these MASH Up Conditioning workouts! I have the Tempo DVD, and each workout is 15 minutes long, and it has strength, core, and interval training. In each workout! I have been doing one workout, then running about doing errands, or walking in front of the TV, and then doing a second workout. They are really kicking my butt!

Without further ado, the winner of a MASH UP Conditioning DVD is.......

Jennifer Wimbley!!!!!

Congratulations! Email me at kprytherch@gmail.com with your mailing information, and I will have your DVD sent ASAP!!!

For my readers that are Personal Trainers in the Oklahoma and Texas areas, you can earn your MASH GT Coach Certification! You will also earn .8 ACE CECS! Check out the Website for more information, or call 1-888-885-2646

This weekend, I will be running the E Murray Todd Half Marathon. It is very low key (no bling! Holy Heck!) and very very hilly. My friend and I ran it last year, and it took us FOREVER to finish, so we are hoping to redeem ourselves this year! Of course, neither of us have put in enough time to really do it right, so this may just be another train wreck. No worries, though, it is the mileage that counts at this point! Snowpocalypse will be rearing its ugly head again tomorrow night, so this may be my only run for a few days!
Thanks Darlena, from Run Find Your Happy Pace

Tough Chik Shout Out
I totally forgot to take a Flat Mama pic last night, the play ran so late, so I will post my outfit tomorrow. I will be repping for Digital Running, and looking awesome, of course! And layers. Lots and lots of layers. Brrrrrrrr

I hope I haven't lost you all, yet! Being that today is March 1, I am going to share my March Challenges! I always start these with the best of intentions, and I usually finish most of them! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you might have seen that I was chosen to be a FitFluential Ambassador yesterday! Wooohoooo! It takes a few weeks to become official, and I am just fangirl-ing all over the place!

Which brings me to Challenge #1. Fitfluential even provides you with a handy calendar to help you get your miles in! I have over 125 miles planned for March, so this one should be a no brainer!

I am so glad that Amanda from Run to the Finish is doing the Spring Bootie Buster Challenge again! You log in your workouts and accumulate points. The people with the most points win prizes, and there are also random drawings! I have won some great prizes in past challenges! When you sign up, mention me as your referral!

I love Photo Challenges, and the gals at Shrinking Jeans have come up with a great challenge for March to help keep you motivated!

They also came up with a 10K steps challenge with a little kick! I love this, because I have been trying to focus on 10K steps a day, which isn't always as easy as you would think! I have printed out both of these to keep me motivated!

Whew! That was long, and I apologize! I have some household chores to tackle now, and then I go back to the theatre to see the Teenie in the Understudy Production (she will be one of the sassy 3 Blind Mice today, and the dragon again tonight. She is on the left in this photo from the Thursday Dress Rehearsal)

What challenges will you tackle in March?
